A Special Project Update: The LSB Digital Initiative - Phase 2

We’re excited to share the next phase of our Digital Initiative and give you a look at the significant upgrades now available for the LSB Reading website: read.LSBible.org!

This phase represents a major expansion of the tools and features available for reading, studying, and interacting with the Scriptures. Our goal is to make the LSB even more accessible and useful—whether you’re reading on a desktop, tablet, or phone, or digging deeper into the original languages.

An Upgraded Bible Reading Experience

The LSB Reading website has been redesigned with improved navigation and an expanded set of display options, with particular attention given to the mobile reading experience.

You’ll now have greater control over how the text appears on your screen, including:

• Theme — adjust the appearance for comfortable reading.
• Text Size — increase or decrease the size of the text.
• Line Spacing — customize the spacing between lines.
• Column Width — adjust the width of the text for a more comfortable reading experience.

Footnotes and Cross References

The FULL set of footnotes and cross references is also now available, making it easier to follow connections and explore additional information as you read.

Original Language Study Tools

For those who want to dig deeper into the biblical text, Hebrew and Greek tools are now available directly within the reading experience.

With the new tagging feature, individual words can be selected to bring up a pop-up definition and see where that same word is used throughout Scripture.

A new “Original” multi-word display also allows you to view the original-language words together for a given verse, providing another helpful way to examine the underlying text.

A Searchable LSB Lexicon

The new concise Lexicon makes it easier than ever to explore the meaning and usage of Hebrew and Greek words.

Lexicon entries can be searched by:

• English word

• Transliteration

• Strong’s number
  

Each entry includes:

• A brief definition

• LSB renderings of the word, with the ability to filter to single-word LSB renderings

• All verses throughout the LSB where that particular entry is used
  

Together, these tools provide a streamlined way to move from a word in the English text to its original-language information and then explore its use throughout the LSB.

Easier Verse Copying

We’ve also made it easier to copy verses, simplifying the process of sharing or using Scripture in your own notes, studies, documents, and other resources.

“My Annotations”

Another major addition is “My Annotations”, which brings your personal Bible-reading tools together in one place.

Highlights

Highlight verses as you read, and then view all of your highlighted verses in one place through My Annotations.

Notes

Add personal notes as you study. Notes can be:

• Viewed as a pop-up alongside the Scripture text

• Viewed together in the My Annotations menu

• Searched, making it easier to find your previous observations and study notes

Bookmarks

Bookmarks make it easy to pick up where you left off. A bookmark saves the chapter you decide to mark, helping you return to your place the next time you “open” the Bible.

A Note About Annotations

“My Annotations'“ are stored on your individual device rather than on a cloud server. This means that your notes, highlights, and bookmarks are currently tied to the device you’re using and are not synced across multiple devices. It is recommended that users “Export” their annotations, which users can “Import” at a later time. 

These improvements represent more than an upgrade to the website—they are part of our ongoing commitment to provide readers with tools that help them see clearly through the text of Scripture. Our prayer is that these new features will encourage deeper reading and study, helping you better understand God’s Word.

The LSB, Available Wherever You Study

Logos — the LSB easier than ever to integrate

The LSB continues to expand its presence across the digital tools and platforms used for Bible reading and study. It is now more widely available within Logos, and readers can also access the LSB through Biblia.com, Logos’ online Bible reader.

For churches and ministries, the LSB is available at no additional cost through Proclaim, Logos’ presentation software. And through Logos’ RefTagger, websites already using Logos can easily link Scripture references directly to the LSB.

These growing avenues of access make it easier to read, study, teach, and share the LSB wherever you are.

Dwell — the LSB is now available!

The Dwell* app offers the LSB in audio format, making it easy to listen to Scripture wherever you are. Enjoy features such as adjustable playback speed, optional background music, and the ability to read along as you listen.
